/ About

A different kind of cleaning company — built around light, not chemicals.

UV Sterile was founded on a simple premise: that the most powerful sanitiser in the universe — short-wave ultraviolet light — should be available to ordinary Australian businesses and homes, not locked away in hospital basements.

/ Mission

Clean shouldn't cost you chemicals.

For decades, "clean" has meant a cupboard full of sprays, fumes, residues and disposable wipes. It means surfaces that smell clean — but harbour what spray bottles can't reach. It means waiting hours before a room is safe to use again.

We saw a better way. The Sterile-Bright™ STRL-PU-250WUV is hand-portable, hospital-grade, and capable of sterilising a vehicle interior in under a minute. It uses zero chemicals. It leaves zero residue. And the second the cycle ends, the space is ready.

Our job is to bring that technology to every kind of space that needs to be genuinely clean — fleets, clinics, gyms, hotels, homes, and everything in between.

/ What We Stand For

Three principles. Non-negotiable.

01

Power

We use 250-watt broad-spectrum units — six times the output of conventional UV lamps. Anything less is theatre.

02

Speed

Your space is downtime when we're working. Cycles are deliberately short — under a minute for vehicles, minutes for rooms.

03

Honesty

We tell you what UV-C does, what it doesn't, and where it makes sense. No miracle marketing.

04

Local

We're Noosa-grown. Same-day on the Sunshine Coast, mobilised Australia-wide for larger commercial contracts.

/ The Science

Why short-wave ultraviolet works where wiping doesn't.

UV-C is the band of ultraviolet light between 100 and 280 nanometres. At that wavelength, photons carry enough energy to penetrate the cell walls of microorganisms and damage their nucleic acids — the DNA or RNA they need to reproduce. A damaged pathogen isn't necessarily dead, but it cannot replicate. Functionally, it's neutralised.

01

Bacteria

UV-C ruptures the bacterial cell envelope and induces lethal damage to chromosomal DNA. Effective against gram-positive and gram-negative organisms, including resistant strains.

02

Viruses

Single-stranded and double-stranded viruses are equally susceptible. Photon energy degrades RNA or DNA to the point where the virion cannot complete a replication cycle in a host cell.

03

Mould & fungi

Spores are tougher than vegetative cells but yield to higher-dose UV-C. Our 250-watt output reaches the threshold for spore inactivation that 40-watt fluorescent lamps cannot.

04

Bioaerosols

Pathogens travel on droplet nuclei suspended in air. UV-C treats both surface contamination and the airborne load simultaneously — wiping reaches only surfaces.

/ The Chemical-Free Advantage

What you're not exposing people to.

Traditional commercial cleaning relies on quaternary ammonium compounds, sodium hypochlorite (bleach), and a range of solvents and surfactants. They work — but they leave their work behind on every surface they touch.

Children's lungs

Paediatric airways react to surfactant residue and chemical fragrance more acutely than adult airways. UV-C leaves nothing for them to inhale or ingest.

Respiratory conditions

Asthma, COPD, and chemical sensitivity sufferers can return to a treated space immediately without flare risk. No off-gassing, no aerosolised solvents.

Pets and wildlife

Veterinary clinics, boarding facilities, and homes with animals avoid exposing patients and pets to phenol-family compounds toxic to cats and birds.

Waterways and soil

What goes into the cleaning cupboard goes down the drain. UV-C uses electricity — no chlorinated runoff, no microplastic from wipes, no chemical inventory.

Food-contact surfaces

Surfaces that touch food can be UV-C treated without the rinse cycle chemical sanitisers demand. The treatment ends; the surface is ready.

Material longevity

Bleach degrades fabrics and seals. Ammonia attacks rubber. UV-C at our exposure times affects pathogens, not the substrates they sit on.

/ Standards

How we operate, end to end.

IEC 62471

Photobiological safety of lamps and lamp systems. Our equipment is rated and operated within published exposure limits.

ICNIRP UV-C

International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection guidelines for UV-C occupational exposure are followed in every operator deployment.

WHS Act 2011

Work Health and Safety obligations to clients are documented in every job report — risk assessment, exposure prevention, and re-entry confirmation.

Documented Logs

Every treatment produces a per-zone log: operator, dwell time, treatment date, signature. Useful for accreditation, inspection, and customer communication.

/ Where We Come From

Noosa Heads, Queensland.

UV Sterile is run out of Noosa Heads on Queensland's Sunshine Coast — a part of the world where clean air, clean water and clean spaces aren't luxuries, they're the standard.

From our base we cover the Sunshine Coast as routine — Noosa, Maroochydore, Mooloolaba, Caloundra, Nambour, Coolum, the lot — and travel to Brisbane and the Gold Coast on a near-weekly basis.

For multi-site commercial contracts we mobilise nationally. If you operate a fleet, clinic network, or hospitality group anywhere in Australia, we can come to you.
